Our 8th graders will move to the high school where their hopes, dreams, and aspirations will become realized with multiple opportunities to get involved. Our 5th graders (on the coast) and 6th graders (in the city), will transition to the middle school level where they will experience more independence, higher learning expectations, and opportunities to explore electives and new friendships. Preschool students will transition from their early years to the more formal structure and expectations of elementary school. Your partnership and engagement with us has never been more important and I want to personally thank you for working alongside us. We recognize the added stress and burden placed on families during distance learning, the re-opening of our schools (with masks), and worrying about the general safety of your children. As we navigated the shifting laws and regulations, your feedback and suggestions made us better. Parents and guardians deserve a giant thank you for supporting us through the past couple years. The various after school clubs continue to shape and influence life on campus.

Students have engaged in amazing theater, band, and choir performances not to mention winning multiple sports league & state titles and mock trial championships. As a percentage of the population, we had more student participation in extracurricular sports and activities than ever before.

The Student Senators provided honest, thought-provoking, and brilliant recommendations for the district to consider as we plan for the future. Many have endured unimaginable hardships, yet they find ways to see the possibilities for a brighter future. San Luis Coastal students are truly inspiring. There are countless unsung heroes in our ranks and I honor them - seen and unseen. We should never forget the profound impact educators and support staff have on children. These rituals of celebrating our staff allows us to reflect on the important role public education plays in our society. As a district we have honored our brand new teachers through the Teacher Induction Program (TIP), celebrated our employees of the year, and honored our retirees. Despite these challenges, we have persevered and discovered new ways to thrive within our world.

It has not been easy and life has been difficult for many. Teachers are excited.SUPERINTENDENT’S MESSAGE Dr. The iINNOVATE Initiative is our region’s first district-wide strategy to meaningfully and equitably integrate project-based learning across elementary subjects, grade levels and school sites. This site-by-site funding model results in dramatic disparities between the have-and-have-not schools. Traditionally, engaging learning environments are primarily parent and PTA funded. Hands-on learning requires engaging spaces and materials that often exceed public school budgets. Innovation labs offer engaging learning environments that cultivate curiosity and empower kids to actively explore real world challenges.

Through hands-on 21st century learning, students are able to celebrate the journey of trial and error along the path to discovery and understanding. Our goal is to help prepare students to be life-long learners. Through the Foundation's iINNOVATE Initiative, we aim to connect student learning to the real world, equipping them with the skills necessary to succeed in a changing global economy.
